The directions to this paper are to compare and contrast the two stories of Gilgamesh and the stories found in Genesis 1-3 and 6-9. The teacher does not want a summary of the two stories, but wants the student to select a topic in the stories and expand on them. The writer chooses to compare the stories to a contract whether verbally or written. In the story of "The Flood" in Gilgamesh and in Genesis, God or the Higher Power is asking Utnapishtim and Noel to put their trust in Him and believe what he directs them to do in building a ship. In any contract, whether verbal or written, the parties must honor and trust the other parties involved. In the two stories both men are asked to trust and honor the higher power or they will die along with wicked mankind. Both men willingly listen and follow the specific directions given to them. Whether it is the story of Gilgamesh or Noah, both men put their trust and honor in their Gods and obey the instructions given to both.

436.115 Conversion.
This paper focuses on the lives, passions and destinies of Dorothy Day and Saint Augustine of Hippo have close resemblances and are strikingly parallel. They were both born into comfortably well-off families: Augustine's in Tagaste (a city in what is now Algeria), where his father was a city official; and Dorothy's in Brooklyn, New York. Both were in search of something they vigorously sought from their youth, and both had strong links with their parents: Augustine with his saintly mother, Monica, and Dorothy, with her father John Day. And both of them were endowed with the capability to achieve their pursuit: Augustine received a Christian education, although his father was baptized into Christianity only before his death; and Dorothy spontaneously found serenity and beauty in the desolate and drab streets of Chicago's south side at the time (Forest). Both possessed sharp intellect and unbreakable will. Even their timelines are parallel: Augustine was converted and baptized into Christianity when he was 33 years old and died when he was 76 years old (Knight); Dorothy was received into the Catholic Church at 30 years old and died at 75 (Forest).

437.140 The Foundations of Asian Religion.
This paper discusses the foundations of Asian religion. Asia is a land of varied cultural traditions and spiritual beliefs. These foundations form the basis of Asian social life. Asia has been home to many popular religions and a place known for the acceptance of new religious ideas. This explains why it's such a place of mixed culture and religion. People such as the Chinese, Indo-Europeans, and the Semites all meet and exchange ideas in Asia. Some of these religious ideas have come and gone, while some of these spiritual ideas have stayed and formed the foundation of Asian religion. However, there seems to be one common element in Asian religion, that of monotheism. Asian people, in general, follow the idea of one God. Some Asians also believe in the idea of holy people, a holy man or a holy woman.

438.190 East and West: A Look at Religion.
This paper contrasts the five main religions in the world today and specifically denotes the differences in belief systems of the eastern and western hemispheres. Five major religions are practiced in the world today and each is centuries old. Hinduism developed first, then Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and finally Islam. But they are not more or less important than other religions because they are older or newer. Their importance is that for centuries they have satisfied basic human needs and answered man's basic questions. The chief differences among them have to do with whose needs they satisfy and whose questions they answer. Within the human race there are many differences, and the most important difference, where religion is concerned, is the difference between Eastern and Western man.

439.269 The Faith in Today.
This paper is written about religion, faith and the barriers to believing in God. Religion and science have a long history together. Religion, to a certain extent, has always been somewhat of a mixture between modern culture, science, and religious dogma itself. But something has happened over time, a distortion of sorts. We now have some form of religion that looks a lot like bad science. It is philosophy and its engineers that try and makes sense of the mess between religion and science.
